Carolyn Clark

math & physics instructor

I had very little interest in mathematics, and physics for that matter, until I learned calculus. My teacher was passionate about the field and provided explanations to confusing concepts which helped me understand the material. This class made me fall in love with mathematics, and once I conquered algebra, my passion for physics grew as well. I began to understand that while I may not be able to think up the most direct method to an answer, I could solve my homework problems regardless, because there is no one way to solve a problem. This lesson has impacted all aspects in my life, and it is the reason I am pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Washington. This is also why I became a tutor. I want to be able to provide more students with that moment of clarity, that could push them into STEM fields.
