Mina Choe
English and US History Instructor
I am a passionate educator with diverse experience in academic tutoring across a wide range of humanities subjects, including AP English Literature, AP U.S. History, AP Human Geography, and standardized test preparation in the verbal sections (ACT, ISEE, DSAT). I earned my B.A. in Educational Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and engaged deeply with subjects such as human development, learning and cognition, educational policy, and research methodologies. My academic journey includes hours of fieldwork in diverse educational settings, providing me with hands-on experience in applying theoretical concepts to real-world teaching scenarios.
In addition to my academic work, I enjoy working with nonprofit initiatives through Unconfined the Project, a 501(c)(3) organization focused on educating audiences about social and environmental issues. My leadership and service were recognized with the Youth Peace Leader Award from the University of San Diego, honoring my work promoting eco-friendly practices within local communities. As a prominent Southern California native, I am passionate about the environment and enjoy paddle boarding, skiing, and reading classical literature, aside from my work. I speak English and Korean fluently and am currently learning to read French in my spare time. I am committed to creating a welcoming, encouraging environment where every student can thrive academically and personally.
